History

Most of the members of the "Micieli" family tree come from a family whose origin descends from Andrea Miceli (that was the original surname), born in 1760. He had three children, Pietro (1780 - 1862) and Francesco (1790) were born in San Fili and Vicenzo (1797) in Bisignano.
The birth of Antonio Maria, Andrea's first grandson was the last information we have about this grandson. Vincenzo, who was born in 1797 in Bisignano, as written in his marriage certificate with Giuseppina Petrasso, had four children, many of whom developed ramifications. In research on the 11th century in San Marco Argentano, it reveals a tree of great interest from a genealogical point of view, not only for its size, but also for some social and cultural aspects of the members of this family, agricultural workers, more educated than others workers who emigrated to San Marco that year. Vincenzo, from the top of the family line, a peasant, but he already knew how to sign, an exceptional thing in those days. That same year, some of them became artisans, due to the skills of some of these individuals, it shows evidence of knowledge and experiences different from simple agricultural work.
The death of a descendant of the first lineage was tragic and unusual, as we can see on his death certificate: Francesco (1821 - 1872), son of Vincenzo, who boarded the ship "L'Amico", in the maritime district of Castellammare de Stabia , on the route from Cette (Ceuta in the Strait of Gibraltar) to New York, he died "as a result of a head injury from falling off the bed where he slept .... and after 24 hours the corpse was thrown overboard. It was the 20th May 1872 and the ship was carrying wines.
